about

Cohn’s theory of “Infinite Tonalities” refers to the notion that all tones belong to a single, cohesive universe—including those that sound strange to the western ear. Over the course of their month together in Prague, the three artists collaborated to establish a “field of action” ranging from half-tones to quarter-tones, such that when it came time to improvise a piece by the name “Infinite Tonalities,” they shared a mutual familiarity of the world in which such a piece could take shape.
